Year 4 Cross Country
On a wet and windy Friday, 10 brave Year 4 students made the trip to Castle Court School for their Year 4 Cross Country event. We were very lucky that by the time we arrived, the rain had stopped. However, the mud was stick laying thick on the track.
After a fun and energetic warm up lead by the Year 8 Sports Leaders, the girls were the first to set off. With the grass on the slope being very slippery, a few girls fell over, including Amy. However, they picked themselves up and carried on, with Amy making up great ground and coming in the middle of the pack. Naomi, Ella, and Tilly also put in an incredible effort in trying conditions.
The boys then stepped up to the starting line, feeling buoyed from the girl's wonderful performance. Springdale started strongly with George, Denny, and Teddy flying the gates. After a nervous 5-minute wait, the first boys made their way up the home straight. Teddy put in a magnificent effort to win the boys race with Denny coming in third. The other boys did very well, coming in the middle of a fully packed race.
Scores were totalled, with the lowest score deciding the winning school. After a brilliant performance, Springdale was able to claim third place, 3 points more than the winning school.
All the children who ran took part in true sportsman fashion, cheering everyone on. They did Springdale proud and have now set the standards for next year - can we go one place better? We will have to wait and see :)
Thank you to the parents who were able to take the children to and from the event. Without your support, it would be difficult to attend these occassions.
