Book Week

14th March 2018

Despite the efforts of the weather, we were able to complete many of our book week activities. Sausages, stories and slippers was enjoyed by a great many of our children from Foundation Stage  to Year four.  The children enjoyed a hot dog and a drink and stories were chosen and read by staff.  The older children also had time to complete book related crafts.  Our thanks must go to the parents who helped to prepare the refreshments.

We were amazed by the ingenuity of the children who entered the competition to dress a potato as a book character. We had a real range of characters with Harry Potter themed potatoes being very popular.

It was very difficult to find a winner but after much deliberation the winners were Lola B (year three) George P (year two) and  Lacey F (year one). They were each able to choose a book from the book fair.

We were pleased that it was possible to rearrange our dress up day and the children delighted us with their colourful and imaginative costumes.  The children were able to attend an assembly where each class showed and discussed their costumes. During the morning, there were twoDrop Everything And Read sessions where everyone in the school stopped and read a book of their choice.

It was another successful year for  our book fair and the children had the opportunity to browse the shelves, share books with their friends and purchase a book if they wished.  We will be buying lots of lovely new books with the commission we earn from these sales.  Again our thanks must go to the helpers who manned the fair for us.

"Pupils thrive at the school, developing outstanding attitudes to learning due to the excellent relationships they form with adults and the very practical, interesting and challenging lesson activities provided. Their excellent behaviour is evident in all aspects of school life."
